Mix Lounge & Food Bar is on Brighton Ave in Long Branch nestled amongst town favorites like Jr.’s and Bagel Guys. I’m telling you this because if you are not looking for it, the Mixx is somewhat hard to notice from the outside. However, that is no reflection on its popularity or the quality of their food and drinks.
The Mixx was started 15 years ago by Michael and Sammy who were two New York City guys who loved making great cocktails and pizza. Thankfully they decided to bring their talent to the Jersey Shore and give us the best martinis in town. The atmosphere is usually very dark so I was unable to take my own photo of the bar overall, but here’s a post from Mix to give you an idea of the layout.
It is small and intimate, and perfect for catching up with friends or relaxing with your special someone. As a college student, my favorite time to go to Mix is on Mondays when it is happy hour all day and night! In fact I went this past Monday with two of my roommates and had a great time without emptying our wallets.
Of course we started with some famous Mix martinis, which come in many varieties. See the drink menu below which includes the happy hour specials at the bottom
The martinis normally range from $9-12 each but during happy hour all specialty martinis are $7. I am a lover of a classic dirty martini, and Mix makes the best by far. My roommates tried the Boston Creme and Sparkling Grape martinis, and they both enjoyed them very much.
Next we decided to try out some of their food, and split the Margherita pizza, which had roma plum tomatoes, fresh sliced mozzarella, and basil pesto oil. I’m always the one to get plain pizza, but this time I was glad I tried something a little different. The pie was originally $13 but the $3 off happy hour deal made it $10 which was definitely affordable for the three of us to share.
And in case pizza doesn’t interest you, here’s the rest of the food menu
Visit the Mix Lounge & Food Bar for an early dinner or late drinks and you won’t be disappointed.
